How affiliate links would be labelled, and the rule that commission never touches the guides.

Some pages may contain affiliate links. This page sets out what that means and what it does not change.
What an affiliate link is
If you follow one to a retailer and buy something, we may receive a small commission. The price you pay is unaffected; the commission comes out of the retailer's margin.
How they would be labelled
Any page containing affiliate links carries a notice on that page, before the links. We do not rely on this policy page alone, because a disclosure you have to go looking for is not a disclosure.
The rule
Commission never influences what a guide says. Not which method is described as effective, not how a requirement is characterised, and certainly not which facility or vendor gets named — since we do not name recommended facilities or vendors at all.
In practice there is very little on this site that lends itself to affiliate arrangements. You cannot buy a disposal well through a referral link. The realistic scope is incidental: a reference book, a piece of general equipment. It is not a meaningful part of how the site works.
What we will not do
- Add a product to a guide because it carries a commission.
- Rank options by commission rather than by suitability.
- Omit a cheaper or free alternative.
- Present an affiliate link as a neutral reference without labelling it.
Your choice
You are under no obligation to use any such link. Searching for the item yourself costs you nothing and costs us the commission, which is entirely your right.
